Year of the Dragon

Today is a big day, for tomorrow is another year, me and my family are excited to face the challenges of the New Year for I told them that “There is always a rainbow after the rain”. And base on the Chinese Calendar, next year is the “Year of the Dragon”, so whatever challenges we encounter, we are ready for everything.

Mass of the Rooster (Misa de Gallo)

Today is the first day of nine (9) days dawn mass, also known as “Misa de Gallo” mass of the rooster, for it is said that the only time that a rooster crowed at midnight was on the day that Jesus was born. Most of the Roman Catholic in the Philippines considered this as a very important Tradition, a way to celebrate and remember the birth of the saviour Jesus Christ, and in some churches the mass begins as early as 3 o’clock in the morning. The Misa de Gallo starts from December 16 up to December 24 and every after mass, outside the church awaits the vendors selling Native Breakfast Delicacies such as, bibingka (rice, flour and egg-based cake, cooked using coal burner above and under) puto bumbong (purple, sticky rice delicacy steamed in bamboo tubes, buttered then sprinkled with brown sugar and shredded dried coconut meat) with drinks include coffee, tsokolate (spanish stiyle hot chocolate) which is craved by the Filipinos who just arrived from the other countries

Last week, I was really troubled finding money for the payment of my bills. My payroll arrived late and my wife has to pay the tuition fees of my kids for the 2nd grading period examination is near. I have no other choice but to lend some money thru a lending office with a 10% interest per month, hopefully next month I could get rid of my debts. Christmas is already near and New Year… New Challenges in life, God bless my family always.
